The Baptist
History and Heritage Society typically presents four major awards during its annual meeting: DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO BAPTIST HISTORY Purpose: To recognize and pay tribute to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the cause of Baptist history in order to give greater visibility to significant contributions being made in Baptist historical work, to motivate other individuals to greater achievements, and to promote a greater awareness and appreciation of Baptist heritage among all Baptists. NORMAN W. COX AWARD FOR WRITING BEST ARTICLE PUBLISHED BY BAPTIST HISTORY AND HERITAGE SOCIETY Purpose: To encourage writing of high-quality articles in Baptist history. All writers publishing articles in the Societys journal Baptist History and Heritage during the previous calendar year are eligible. DAVIS C. WOOLLEY AWARD FOR OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENT IN STATE BAPTIST HISTORY Purpose: To encourage creativity and excellence in state Baptist history programs. MERITORIOUS SERVICE AWARD Purpose: To honor an individual or organization considered to have provided commendable and exemplary service to the Society.
