[6/17/2010] BH&HS Receives National Media Coverage

June 17, 2010 by Bruce Gourley

Compliments of Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee (formerly pastored by well-known Southern Baptist Adrian Rogers), the Baptist History & Heritage Society is receiving national media attention.

Bellevue Baptist recently tossed a partially-gay church softball team out of their church softball league, and the Memphis Commercial Appeal ran a front-page story about the incident. The newspaper called me for some background context, and printed several of my quotes within the story. Since being posted online, the story has received almost 1000 (online) responses from readers (see link above) in the first 36 hours.

Today, other newspapers and websites are picking up on the story and mentioning the BH&HS, including the New York Daily News and GetReligion.Org (be sure to read my response in the comment section of the GetReligion article).
